Song: "Watch Your Step"

This is one of my favorite songs on the album. I actually wrote this song a couple of years before embarking on the new album. I wrote it when I was about to move out to LA. It started off as a song written about someone who I felt had an ego that wouldn't quit, someone who wouldn't listen to other ideas, and ultimately couldn't let his guard down. It was a tough time when I wrote this but as they say, these are when the best songs come out! He's come a long way and so have I. I recently got a review where they said that if Tom Petty and Sarah McLachlan wrote a tune together that it would sound something like this. That was so cool to read:)

You better watch your step
‘Cause that shoe on the right foot well it doesn’t quite fit
And your laces are untied
Come to think of it they aren’t even close to the right size
I know. Oh, God I know.
Well, I know you’re used to flying

Now that the curtains are drawn
How quickly the daylight’s gone
And all you’ve got are the stars above
Yeah tell me what you’re gonna do my friend
Don’t let the darkness creep on in

Yeah, well you never sleep enough
So stop trying to rest for the rest of us
You smile that smile so wide
But then you’re running, you’re running, you’re running, just to hide.
Well I know your used to flying

Now that the curtains are drawn
How quickly the daylight’s gone
And all you’ve got are the stars above
Yeah tell me what you’re gonna do my friend

Now that the curtains are drawn
How quickly the daylight is gone
And all you’ve got are the stars above
Yeah tell me what you’re gonna do my friend

Don’t let the darkness creep on in

Oooh…

All you’ve got are the stars above…
